Authentication method allowing users to access multiple applications with one set of credentials.
Single Sign-On (SSO) enables users to authenticate once and access multiple applications without re-entering credentials. SSO improves user experience (fewer passwords to remember), security (fewer passwords to compromise), and administration (centralised access control). SSO is typically implemented through identity providers like Microsoft Entra ID or Okta using protocols like SAML or OIDC. When users leave, disabling their SSO account immediately revokes access to all connected applications.
Why It Matters
The DSC Perspective:
SSO reduces password sprawl and improves security through centralised control. When employees leave, one account disable cuts all access. Implement SSO for all applications that support it.
