Security Check (SC) is the clearance level enabling access to Secret classified information and some Top Secret with supervision. SC vetting examines a 5-year history including employment, residence, finances, and character. The process typically takes 6-12 weeks but can be longer. SC is the most common clearance level for defence contractors handling sensitive information. SC requires renewal every 10 years.
