Privacy by Design

Data Protection

Approach embedding data protection into systems and processes from the outset rather than as an afterthought.

Privacy by Design means building data protection into systems, products, and processes from the start—not bolting it on afterwards. GDPR requires privacy by design and by default. This includes minimising data collection, implementing security measures, and ensuring privacy-friendly defaults. When developing new systems or processes, consider data protection requirements early in design rather than struggling to retrofit them later.

Why It Matters

The DSC Perspective:

Retrofitting privacy is expensive and often ineffective. Build it in from the start. When planning new projects involving personal data, involve data protection considerations from the design phase.
