Data Loss Prevention

Cyber Security

Technology that detects and prevents sensitive data from leaving your organisation through unauthorised channels.

Data Loss Prevention (DLP) identifies, monitors, and protects sensitive data in use (on endpoints), in motion (network traffic), and at rest (storage). DLP uses content inspection to find sensitive information—credit card numbers, personal data, intellectual property—and enforces policies to prevent unauthorised sharing. This might mean blocking an email containing customer data to personal accounts, preventing uploads of confidential documents to consumer cloud storage, or alerting when sensitive files are copied to USB drives. DLP is essential for compliance with GDPR, PCI DSS, and data protection requirements.

Why It Matters

The DSC Perspective:

Data breaches often start with authorised users moving data to unauthorised places—intentionally or accidentally. DLP catches these events. Essential for organisations handling personal data, financial information, or intellectual property.
